Is CSS the solution?
-
I am very new & not very knowledgable when it come to the web. I have created a wp site (www.athletetested.com) based on the recommendation of a friend and based on some of the sites I was told were wp , most specifically http://www.racing.ups.com. My question is CSS what made these site appear more like websites than blogs? If so – how do I find someone that can do this for me?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I looked at http://www.racing.ups.com/ and it is a custom design, but you should be able to find a WordPress site that looks more like a website by using a static front page.
If you created a posts page with some images as the content like they did in http://www.racing.ups.com/ then you could get a similar effect although you can’t use that exact same design.
Check out the theme showcase at http://theme.wordpress.com/ to see if you find anything you like without needing to change the CSS.
With the Custom Design upgrade, you can actually make some pretty extensive design/layout changes using minimal style themes like Sandbox and Toolbox and you could create an entire custom design that way, but it does require a bit of work to do it. If you’re a designer or looking to build your design skills, it might be an option you’d be interested in.
