Installing WordPress on Subdomain and Insufficient Disk Space

  • Hello,

I’m trying to install WordPress on a subdomain using cPanel, but when I tried to do this I was notified that there wasn’t sufficient disk space to do so (available space: 21.81 MB, required space: 43.45 MB).

I thought I might be able to install WordPress using the approach described on this site: https://wpengine.com/resources/install-wordpress-on-subdomain/
That is, creating the subdomain, creating a new database and user, and uploading WordPress files through the cPanel file manager.

However, I’m unsure whether I will encounter the same roadblock of insufficient disk space using this approach as well. If that is the case, I’m wondering if there’s yet another way to install WordPress on this subdomain that won’t necessitate acquiring more disk space from the hosting provider.

    Thank you!

  • The site mentioned does not use our managed hosting environment from WordPress.com. Instead, it’s set up on the open source WordPress.org software which is something different.

This page talks about this differences in more detail:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org
