Inflated Stats: Spamming?

Why are my stats so skewed today? I received nearly 400 views in about 10 minutes from only 8 unique visitors, mostly viewing one article. Is there a way to adjust/fix my stats for this spamming? Is there a way to prevent this from happening? (It has never happened in nearly one year of daily blogging.)
