Images not displaying correctly across page

  • Hello,

In the example theme landing page all of the images align perfectly across the page from one margin to the next.
On my site some “rows” only have one image and the title runs over so no other posts are visible on that row. This means that some rows of posts only show one post, other rows show a few, some images are cut off, etc. It’s messy.

    What image size is ideal?
How to I create that balanced look from one side of the page to the other with my post featured images/ excerpts?

    Thanks,
    Leigh

  • Hi Leigh,

On my site some “rows” only have one image and the title runs over so no other posts are visible on that row. This means that some rows of posts only show one post, other rows show a few, some images are cut off, etc.

That description doesn’t fit what I see on your front page. I find that there are three posts in every row on the front page of https://leighcassell.com/, and no run over of titles. Some of the posts don’t display featured images, but in that case a gray default background is automatically substituted. Can you tell us what device and browser/app combination is producing the results you’ve described?

    What image size is ideal?

The Apostrophe 2 theme guide doesn’t give ideal featured image sizes. However, the Quick Specs section says (dimensions in pixels):

Featured Images are 225 square and we recommend an image at least 450 by 450. In the case of Featured Posts, they’re 465 wide by 225 high and we recommend an image at least 930 by 450.

  • Thank you for your reply!

This is what I see (Mac using Chrome):
    https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3BfgYRMYhpWWGUyeGZnLWJIOFk/view?usp=sharing

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3BfgYRMYhpWNU9KXzcwVGdHcWs/view?usp=sharing

When I click on the blank spaces where posts could be in those rows it opens the post with the image that is visible.

    Thanks again for your help,
    L

  • Hi Leigh,

Hm, that’s strange. I’m also viewing your site on a Mac using Chrome but the posts appear correctly aligned to me.

Would you be able to view your site on a different browser, such as Safari or Firefox, to see if you’re able to replicate the issue there? I wonder if there’s a Chrome browser extension causing the issue here.

If you’re not able to replicate the issue on a different browser, please try disabling any browser extensions one by one and also go through these initial troubleshooting steps:

    Solve Common Browser Issues

If the above doesn’t help, please visit the following page and choose the “Export PDF” button:

    https://supportdetails.com/

If you can then upload the PDF to your site’s Media Library, I’ll be able to view more details about your browser’s set up, which will help to me to troubleshoot further with you.

    Thanks!

  • Thank you SO much for providing me with such a detailed response. It displays properly in Safari which means it’s likely one of my extensions must be causing the issue. Thanks again for the suggestions. Much appreciated.

    Leigh

  • I’m glad to hear that, Leigh! If you’re not able to pinpoint an extension that’s causing the issue, let us know and we can troubleshoot further with you.
