image scan on upload?

    hello, please forgive if this has been mentioned over and over, but with all the news about images having malware attached in the EXIF data, i was wondering – does my wordpress site scan my images before they get uploaded? seems like an unusually long period of time – like it’s going through a scan test – before the image thumbnail shows, and i am able to access the image to use it.

    if i am correct or not, please let me know! thank you
