It does not necessarily mean you have been hacked. It only shows there is more traffic on your site. You can read more about the possible reasons why there are more comments on your blog

Enable or Disable Comments

You can secure your account if you are sure you have been hacked by changing your password

Hello, is this for your site at bellaonpark.wordpress.com which hasn’t been updated since 2012 or a different site?

Also where do these comments appear? Are they in the spam, pending, or approved folder?

Hi there,

The last comment on http://bellaonpark.wordpress.com/ was left in 2012, and there’s only one pending comment on the site, also from 2012. What site are you speaking of?

Regardless, an increase in comments is not a symptom of being hacked. At worst it means you don’t have spam protection active on your site. If you’re using the open source WordPress.org software you’ll need a plugin like Akismet to help you filter out spam comments:
