I go to the menu setting part. the options for social icon menu is Primary and New Menu.
If I choose primary, the social icon menu will display my page instead of social icons, please help.(My English sucks, hope you guys understand.) :)

Hi,
The Rowling theme guide says:
The Social Menu automatically displays links to your social media profiles as icons.
It means that supported icons will automatically be displayed, rather than generic icons, after you set up a social links menu as described in the support page that the words “Social Menu” link to. That’s the Add a Social Links Menu support page.
If I choose primary, the social icon menu will display my page instead of social icons…
Have you set up a social links menu, as described in the appropriate support page?

It looks like you haven’t yet set up a social links menu. Try following this guide:
After you create your social links menu, assign it to the “Social menu” area in your theme.
“Automatically” means that if you add a Facebook link in your social menu, the Facebook icon is automatically displayed, for example. Same for the other popular social networks.
Let us know how it goes.

I have the same problem: Using the theme Rowling the social menu icons are not displayed although I have created the social menu as described above. I assigned the social media menues to the top header menu additionally as temporary workaround. Then they’re visible, but only as text links and not as icons.

marsunterwegs – I resaved your social menu location in the Customizer’s Menus tab and your Facebook link is showing now.
Hazel – you still need to create your social menu before you can assign it to your theme’s Social Menu location in the Customizer’s Menus tab.
Let me know if either of you needs further help.

Hi kathrynwp, many thanks for your help. It seems that there is a browser dependent problem. Using Firefox 51.0.1 (Windows) the social media menue is still not visible. Everything is ok with Internet Explorer 11 (Windows) and Firefox 48.0.2 (MacOS).

Could you please tell me if you’re able to see the social icons at the top right of the Rowling demo here: https://rowlingdemo.wordpress.com/ – in Firefox 51/Windows? What version of Windows are you using?

To narrow it down further, please let me know if you can see the social menu in Button:

I’ve circled where it should be: https://cloudup.com/civNuxjNZgq

Could you please try turning off all Firefox extensions temporarily or running Firefox in safe mode? Some ad blockers may block the social icons and I suspect that’s what may be happening here, since I tested on Windows 8.1/Firefox 51 on my side and I can see the social menu.

Glad you found the culprit. If you look at the menu with the ad blocker inspector you may be able to figure out which specific rule is doing the blocking and turn off just that one so you can reactivate the extension.

I added the rules for the ad blocker. So everything works fine now. Many thanks for your help – great work!
