How to put widgets like FB on the home page

    How do add buttons which will allow readers to share posts from the home page (for FB, twitter etc)?

    I worked out how to share stories from my blog page with widgets on individual post pages but my posts are so short most people aren’t going to click on them (as they appear in there entirety on the home page)

    I’m sorry, I tried the search function and google but I’m absolutely useless at this stuff. I managed to get a subscribe button on the homepage but even that took hours.

    NB: I’ve found responses which have told me to leave lines of code somewhere, 1. I’m not sure if this works. 2. I can’t work out where to stick the code.

    This site aint easy for the non tech savvy but I’m trying!

    Note that Facebook widgets contain Javascript and the software on this multi-user blogging platform strips the code to preserve security. http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/

    I am not sure if you want to add a Facebook like in your homepage via the sidebar. It will allow your reader to like your blog in whole, not a specific blog post.

    You can add this code in a text widget:

    I got the code from getsociallive and it will allow your readers to share your blog in fb, twitter and some other sites.

    OK, So i tried a couple of the links above with little success and then I worked it out, I didn’t need to install a widget at all. It was all right there before my eyes.

    On the sharing page, toward the bottom it says: Show sharing buttons on:

    And I had it on posts and pages (the default setting I think). Once I added index pages it did exactly what I was after which was to add a button where readers could share from the home page.

    Sorry if I wasn’t clear in my original message.

    But while I have you (cheeky I know) is there a way to change the setting for subscribers where they only get emailed say once a day (or less) rather than after every post?

    I’m sure I could spend an hour working it out but I know you guys will have an answer in 30 seconds.

    Hi there,
    It’s good to know you have the sharing icons enabled now. Your subscribers get to control how often they receive emailed updates via blog subscriptions. When readers subscribe, they’ll get an email update (either immediately, daily, or weekly, depending on the frequency they choose) when you write new posts on your blog. http://en.support.wordpress.com/blog-subscriptions/
