How to change heading font sizes and certain link colors

  • I’ve changed the color of the links on my blog using CSS, but I’m not really sure what I’m doing and only half of them changed.

    I’d like them to be blue (#009999), but some are still showing as pink: the author link, any links that are set as h1, h2, etc., and the edit link (only I can see it but it still bugs me).

    I’d also like to be able to change the font sizes for h1, h2, h3, h4, etc.

    What is the CSS I should be using to change those items? Any help would be appreciated!

  • I also just saw that the “crib” and “wall color” links in this post are still randomly pink: http://patthebellyblog.com/2013/08/12/nursery-in-progress/

  • Figured out the link color issue (just had to clear my cache).

    Still need help with font sizes for headings (h1, h2, h3, etc.). Does anyone know how to edit that within CSS?

    Hi @jenniferpiller,

    Figured out the link color issue (just had to clear my cache).

    You might be missing styling for visited links. Give this CSS bit a try to solve it:

    a:visited {
    color: #009999;
    }

    Still need help with font sizes for headings (h1, h2, h3, etc.). Does anyone know how to edit that within CSS?

    Which headings do you want to change specifically? For example, the <h1> headings used for the titles of your posts and for the titles of your sidebar widgets have different classes applied to them. Because of that, they have different sizes and styles and we would need different CSS rules to change their appearance. If you specify what parts of your blog you want to tweak, it makes it easier for us to help you :)

  • I really only want to change the h1, h2, h3 and h4 within the post. For example, I do weekly updates that have a section called “This week according to What to Expect,” and I’d like to change the font/size of those (h2).

    Hey again,

    Oh, I see! Here is an example of how to do this:

    .entry-content h2 {
        font-size: 30px;
    }

    This example changes the size of <h2> headings in your posts to 30px. You can add similar CSS rules for the other headings by replacing “h2” for the heading you want to style. You can also adjust the font size as you wish, by tweaking the “30px” value for the “font-size” property.

  • That worked – thank you!
