How to activate side bar in data theme?

    In the help for customising this theme it states that a side bar can be activated but I am struggling to locate where this can be changed. So far anything I add to side bar ends up at the footer instead.
    I would greatly appreciate any advice on how to do this

    Hey toysandtantrums,

    Please go to customize>>Widgets>>Sidebar. To add widgets to the sidebar, click on “Add A Widget” button and you see many widgets.

    Add them according to your requirements.
