How do I stop or report spam likes?
-
I have a suspicion that I’m getting spam likes – and it’s happening on every post at the moment. How do I stop this – or where do I report them?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

We all are. See here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/new-way-to-spam/page/4?replies=98#post-1227284

Thanks for replying – so seems there’s nothing I can do but disable likes as the reporting system is pointless. I agree with whoever suggested being able to moderate likes, at least then you could avoid publishing them.

No, you can always go to their blogs and report them via the grey admin bar. Explain you are reporting them for spam likes.

Not all “Likers” have WordPress.com sites, only a Gravatar account and apparently it seems you can no longer report them on Gravatar.

@justjennifer
The “report” link that used to be on the bottom right hand corner of Gravatar profile pages disappeared shortly after we were told we could use it in this thread. :(The ability to moderate “likes” would be very useful. As it stands we blogger have no control at all over whose gravatar appears on our blogs and we have no accurate means of assessing blog growth. I think that sucks.

Given the number of WordPress.com users that are reporting being hammered by spam, at this point I’ve decided to remove displaying “likes” on every site I have here to remove the incentive of having a Gravatar displayed with a possible dodgy link in their profile. I realize this may not be practical for everyone. I’ve also set every site to moderated comments.
Hopefully TPTB are working on a solution to this spam deluge.
