How do I register an SSL certificate for my domain?
-
I recently upgraded my blog, altmode.wordpress.com, to the domain altmode.org that I had previously registered. Now visitors to my blog at https://altmode.org get browser warnings because the certificate presented to them is for *.wordpress.com, not altmode.org.
How do I obtain and provide to you a certificate (and associated private key) for altmode.org so my visitors don’t get that warning?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Ugh. Reading more in the forums, it appears there is no way to do this. I wish I had known this before shelling out $ for a premium account; I would rather that https: not be supported on the domain than to get phone calls from friends who are afraid my blog has been hacked because they’re getting a warning message. Not a good situation currently.

Hi Jim,
WordPress.com currently doesn’t support SSL for custom domains, so you can avoid that error message by giving out the http:// version of your site’s address:
Modern browsers will usually give a warning if you try to visit a site starting with https:// when SSL isn’t supported there, so the best way to avoid that is to make sure that links to your domain begin with http:// instead. We also have a page about HTTPS with more details and other options for turning off those browser warnings.
Please let me know if I can do anything more to help with that.
