  I bought a new domain name: http://www.portageartist.com

  It works fine.

  But how do I avoid my domain automatically changing to include the wordpress part upon arrival to site? I still want the old name to work — and I don’t want it to be visible when it is not entered

  You can update that by setting the primary domain on the Upgrades → Domains page in your blog dashboard.
