How do I import pictures from WordPress.ORG

  • Hi,

I just created a WordPress.com blog and imported my old posts from a self-hosted WordPress.org installation. Everything worked except for the following:

    1) Pictures did not get copied over and the URL in the <img src=”…”> tag was not changed to a new location. I need some means of copying my images in bulk and rewriting the <img src=”…”> tag to reflect the new location of the images.

    2) Many of my posts contain links to previous posts I made. After importing my blog, the links still point to the posts on my old wordpress.org installation. I need these links to be rewritten to point to the posts’ location on wordpress.com

Does anyone know how to fix this? Is this type of functionality available at all on WordPress.com? If a solution exists, I assume it will require me to re-import everything, which is fine. I found someone who wrote their own importer but the code is no longer available and it appears to only work when importing a wordpress.ORG blog from a wordpress.ORG blog at a different location. (http://heftagaub.wordpress.com/2007/05/26/improved-wordpress-to-wordpress-importer/) Any help would be appreciated!!!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • There is no easy fix.

    1
There is only a post-by-post image-by-image manual re-upload and re-insert of every image.

    2
There is only a post-by-post manual editing of every link

  • Thanks, husdal. I guess now I have to decide if I want to make all the changes manually or go back to hosting a WordPress.org blog myself…
