How do I import Desktop website
-
Not sure if I can do this, but my IT guy sent me a zipped file of the site (don’t know if it’s a wordpress-compressed zip export or just a zip he made.)
The import is too large.
I’m also not sure I can just work on it from my desktop. Downloaded the editor for desktop (WordPress.com desktop app) and can’t seem to find a way to work on it directly from my desktop.Self-declared URL: F:Old Tomberlin website

It’s difficult for us to know how to advise without seeing the zip file. We’ll follow-up with you by email about this!

Hello @bamgraphics!
It would be best to continue the conversation over email and we have sent you one already, so if you could reply there it would be great.
That said, as per your screenshot you have wp-content folder there which is a good start. What is missing is SQL file of the database. You would need to find/get that file.
Once the file is present, you’d need to send us both the ZIP of the entire folder in your screenshot and the SQL file for review.
I hope that’s helpful and points you in the right direction. And we’ll be waiting to hear from you via email. Thanks!

We sent an email to you yesterday that starts with “WordPress.com Help…” in the subject. You can reply to the email and send us the link there.
-
-
Could you clarify where exactly you’re being asked for that information?
Regarding the email my colleague mentioned sending over, you can reply to that just as you would any email in the program/webmail service of your choice! -
-
@bamgraphics can you please reply to the email we sent you to your email address? Instead of using the pop up field there, you can click Copy right on that page and send us that link.
-
The email that I received came from: help@wordpress.com
The one before that was from a no-follow.
is it from the first email…

Sorry – couldn’t find anything else. Can you tell me on your end? -
Hi again! Regarding the email, the subject starts with:
WordPress.com Help: …
…and the email contents start with:
Just following up on your forum thread about working with a zip file…
The email signature will show:
Brandon
Happiness Engineer at WordPress.comPlease reply there, and we’ll help you send the zip file to us, review it, and share our next steps on migrating the website!
Let us know if you have any further questions 😄

Alright – if I respond to that email it goes to help@wordpress.com.
If I click “WordPress.com” after “Happiness Engineer”, it sends it to here. Not to an email address.

Hey @bamgraphics!
I confirm we received your test email message.
Please respond there by sending us the files using one fo the suggested services mention in my message.
I’m looking forward to hearing from you via email. Thanks!

Hi there! Yes, we can download from Google Drive or any file sharing service you prefer. It would need to be publicly accessible and not restricted to any login in order for us to access and download.
You may send the link to help@wordpress.com or reply to the email ticket Denys previously sent you. Once we confirm we’ve received and downloaded the file, you can delete it. -
