I write a fantasy football blog called fictionfootballblog.com
My Home Page right now just says home, but I want it to have large links in the middle of the screen that lead to the pages of my posts. I essentially want the home screen to just be five or six picture links that lead to my post pages, and that’s all. Is there a way to do that in the middle of the screen, and not through a menu bar or header/footer?

You can build your own grid of linked images in the content area of the home page. It can get a bit tricky. The “tricky” can be overcome with custom CSS, but you don’t have that available to you with the Personal plan.
What you might want to consider is a theme such as Dara which has a Grid Page template that lays out the child pages of that page in a grid fashion.
