having to pay to launch site?

    Hello,

    My apologies if this is a ridiculous question, but I was wondering why I have to pay to ‘launch’ this site? It should [sitename].wordpress.com. I have used WordPress before and have never had to pay in order to launch a site before. Perhaps it has something to do with the domain?

    It should only take a few more clicks if you have already created a free site with a subdomain ending in wordpress.com. Make sure that after clicking the “Launch site” button that you leave blank the field at the top that says “Enter a name or keyword”. Instead just click on “skip purchase” at the bottom right next to your new free address and then click on continue with free on the next page.
