I’ve been writing on and off since late 2014, but I’m looking to be more consistent with adding new post. What are some tips at improving the quality of my blog. I focus on popular culture (video games, anime, toys exc.).
Some of the things I’m looking to improve on are views and followers. I understand, some of the basics like follow others with similar interest as I do and sharing my links on social media. But what else can I do?
Are there certain plug ins and wigits I should use?
Are there any type of static pages I should have besides an About Me Page?
And lastly, what are some tips for keywords? Should I use ninetail keywords?

The blog I need help with is www.popcultreviews.com.

Hi adamsilvia89! I’ve found that browsing other sites like your own helps to spark ideas. You can find sites in the “video games” category on WordPress Discover, for example: https://discover.wordpress.com/category/video-games/

And you can browse sites in other categories, too: https://discover.wordpress.com/topics/

As for growing traffic, sharing on social media and posting regularly both help (both of which you are already doing, which is great!). Even though you’re a self-hosted WP user, you still might find the tips in our branding & growth resources helpful:

Are there any type of static pages I should have besides an About Me Page?

You can check other sites for inspiration — I often see “Best of” pages where you can curate your best work. Other ideas: a page compiling your writing/reviews elsewhere on the web; a “contact me” page with a contact form; or a page for people to submit their products, games, etc. for you to consider writing about/reviewing.

    Thanks for the input.

I don’t want to hijack this post too much, but I believe the answer to my question could be useful for @adamsilvia89 too.

I am tagging all my video game related posts with tags like “games” or “pc gaming” and so on since my whole link structure on the blog is based on my tagging.

Now that you said the “video-games” discover list… do we have to tag our related posts with “video-games” to be shown in the discover section?

Hi @diaryofdennis! To clarify, no, the posts that are featured in the various categories on WordPress Discover are recommended and hand-picked by people who search for “editors’ picks.” They are curated separately from the tag pages you see in the WP.com Reader when logged in. Thanks for the question.

    I understand. Thanks Cherilucas!

The greatest thing I do with my blog is creating a schedule and goals! Consistency is great especially when you are looking to gain a readership.
