    C’mon you guys, you have got to be kidding me. Just as things seem to be settling down, you have changed the gallery set up again! Every time I try and insert tiled gallery it comes up as create a new gallery – which I don’t need, as the photos I need are already in the media library! What is going on? Aren’t you happy with changing something just once?!

    Are you able to tell us the page/post you’re working on please, as well as the steps you’re taking where you’re getting that behaviour please.

    Also, just so that you know, uploading to the media library doesn’t also automatically create tiled galleries in page, nor does it add to already existing galleries.

    Hi there and thanks. I completed the post another way, so there is no point in referring it to you now.
    The thing that confused me was that the options for inserting pictures, uploading files into the gallery and then selecting from media gallery was different from usual. There was suddenly an option to create separate galleries which was never there before. That really confused me as I don’t see the point of separate galleries?

    Curiously enough, the next post was not problematic, and everything flowed as it usually does – not necessarily perfect, but in a way that I am now getting my head around…

    It’s happened again!

    I chose to insert tiled gallery, load from media library, whereby it let me choose 2 photos but then said I had to make a new gallery and that is not what I have had to do before. I just want the media library, not lots of different galleries – or is that how the insert into the post is created when we choose tiled gallery, by making a new gallery? It is all so confusing. And I was told there would be a way to annotate individual pics within a tiled gallery (like we used to be able to in the old system) but I still see no sign of that so far….

    Now on my immediate next blog post, the system has reverted to the old style, without me doing anything different from the previous post (see above!)

    Sorry to hear it! I’m pretty confused too.

    Would you be willing to get screenshots and upload them to https://wordpress.com/media ? It’s hard to know what you mean by the old style and what not, but screenshots can be very illuminating.

    Do you mean you’re getting more than one option when typing /gallery for example?

    Ok, I have two screenshots on that link. The one immediately after all the other photos is the “new version” that won’t let me insert a tiled gallery or image without creating a new gallery.

    The second photo is what I call the “old style” where I simply select, then click insert.
    Both were the result of the same procedure for starting a new blog, which is why don’t understand what is happening! It has happened before too, with a blog being in the new Add Gallery format, and then the next post reverting the the “old style”…

    ?!! :-)

    So, from the images you provided, it looks like you’re accessing the gallery from two different areas – one from the WordPress.com dashboard:

    http://wordpress.com/pst/rovingrodge.wordpress.com

    and the other from your wp-admin dashboard (rovingrodge.wordpress.com/wp-admin):

    http://rovingrodge.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post-15857&action=edit

    That would be the reason for the different results. The first (WordPress.com dashboard) would yield the results from following the instructions here:

    https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/tiled-gallery-block/

    The second (wp-admin dashboard) would be a result of following the instructions here:

    https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/gallery-block/#adding-a-gallery-or-slideshow

    To confirm, you are saying that you are getting those two different results when following the same exact steps?

    To confirm – I click on that little + and choose tiled gallery or image and then I click on select photos, and then I select from my media library and click insert. No change, but different results!!!

    At least it makes sense how there are two ways to be used, but as I am only using one, it is still confusing!!
