Friends having major problems with accessing our blog
-
I have sent out numerous personal invites to friends on your new system and most of these have still not been able to get in to see the blog we have spent a considerable amount of time putting up. This is despite us having already given them all the address of the current blog, its name and also the password we had created for this current blog. It is extremely frustrating to say the least.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

This isn’t how a Private site works.
You invite people to view it, but they have to create their own WordPress.com account and their own password for that account if they do not already have one.
I hope I’ve misunderstood what you said because it sounds like they are logging in with (g*d forbid) your credentials and have full control of the site, including the ability to delete it. So if that is indeed the case, change your own password first thing.

It could however be the antihistamines talking. If I’ve misunderstood you, please set me straight.

Thanks Jennifer for responding. No I didn’t give them my details. I went to ‘Users’/Invite new users in the dashboard page. The box came up to put in 10 emails at a time and I invited them to be ‘Viewers’ The name , address, password I gave just those we had decided upon for this new blog this year. Its our 3rd time to Kolkata over 4 years. They then did get the email from WordPress inviting them to set up their own account. I assumed then they would have access to our new blog. A few did, a few others got in after I received a further email from WordPress insisting that I would again give them permission to see this blog. But vast majority still cannot see it despite their setting up a WordPress a/c.
This is why we are pretty fed up with this blog site.
At least 2 years ago, once we finally got all our photos uploaded, (it took ages) people could get in having received the particular details for that blog -
Hi there!
Our invitation system has a little quirk. In order to accept an invitation through the link in the email, they have to already be logged into the WordPress.com account in the browser.
This means that once they’ve set up a new account, they’ll need to go back to the email and click on the confirmation link again.
Let me know if after trying that your friends are still having trouble accessing the site. If you could specify which specific users are still having trouble I can take a closer look.

@shawnajroberts-thanks for the clarification.
I don’t know what the current wording in the invite to a site is, but hopefully it says something along those lines. :)

I’m pretty sure it does, but I’ll hunt down the email and see if it needs clarification. :)
