Instead of going to my homepage when I log in, I’m going to Sites. And I can’t do anything.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

As I understand, you would like to access your augusttudor.com site’s dashboard, but instead, you are being taken to https://wordpress.com/sites. Is that right?

If yes, you can access your site’s Home from the https://wordpress.com/sites by clicking on My Home link as shown here: https://share.cleanshot.com/yP8fgjY5.

Hello – I’m having the same problem.

When I login to WordPress I’m no longer seeing my own dashboard and usual menu just a page called Sites asking me to search by name or domain but nothing is loading there. I can’t navigate to my own site and the ‘Write’ button at the top right also doesn’t load.

Is there a new way to get to my usual dashboard and write new posts or is this a system error? This problem started last night and is the same this morning.

    Thanks!

    Hi @mphilpott2013

May I know which web browser you are using? Could you please try on another web browser and see if that helps?

If the issue persists, please email us at help@wordpress.com with a screenshot of what you see.

Hi Nigel – thanks! It does seem to be specific to Chrome, just in the last 24-hours, and is now working on another browser. I’ll send some screenshots as well – appreciate the help.

    Hey there @mphilpott2013,

Thank you for your response. I’m glad to hear that switching browsers has helped resolve the issue. Let’s dig a bit deeper to ensure we fully address the problem.

It does seem to be specific to Chrome, just in the last 24-hours, and is now working on another browser. I’ll send some screenshots as well – appreciate the help.

Since the issue appears to be isolated to Chrome, here are some steps you can try to resolve it:

    1. Clear your Chrome browser cache and cookies. This often helps with loading issues.
    2. Disable any Chrome extensions you may have, especially those related to ad-blocking or security, as they can sometimes interfere with WordPress.com.
    3. Try using Chrome in incognito mode to see if the issue persists.
    4. Ensure your Chrome browser is up to date.

If none of these steps work, you might want to consider:

    1. Logging out of WordPress.com in Chrome and then logging back in.
    2. Checking if there are any network restrictions or firewall settings that might be affecting Chrome specifically.

It’s great that you’re sending screenshots to help@wordpress.com. This will help our team investigate the issue more thoroughly.

In the meantime, you can continue using the alternative browser that’s working for you to manage your site. However, we’d like to get to the bottom of the Chrome issue to ensure you have full access across all platforms.

Is there anything else you’ve noticed about this issue? For example, does it happen on all devices where you use Chrome or just on one specific device?

I’m having the same problem in Chrome on my Chromebook ( and don’t have another browser to try. I’ve cleared the cache, deleted cookies, logged out and in… nothing’s working, it just hangs trying to load my domain ( https://williammeikleblog.wordpress.com/ )

Addendum: Going incognito didn’t work either

Just installed Firefox and it works, so it’s definitely a Chrome issue.

Thank you all, often when an issue like this occurs, it can be traced to an expired (or broken) cookie stored on your local web browser. Sounds like this issue is specific to Google Chrome so please try the following:

    • Clear your cache and cookies based on the steps google recommends here: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/32050
    • Make sure you are not blocking any “3rd party cookies” as explained in that guide as well.
    • Log out of your WordPress.com account and then sign back in with your username and password as normal

Do any of these steps allow you to see things as normal in Chrome? Thanks for the additional info!

Yep, did all that. Issue still persists.

Thank you for testing. Are you able to bypass this page with a direct link such as https://wordpress.com/home/sitename/?

It would also help help us to know more about what you’re seeing. Would you please email us at help@wordpress.com with a screenshot of the relevant pages? You’re welcome to include a link to this forum thread in your message to keep everything connected.

Most of the pages are just blank… I did email the one where it’s trying to load the domain. Basically, all it says is ‘loading’ :-)

When I try to use the https://wordpress.com/home/williammeikleblog.wordpress.com link it redirects to a blank screen at wordpress.com/home

Similarly, https://wordpress.com/sites/williammeikleblog.wordpress.com redirects to a blank screen at https://wordpress.com/stats/day

  • williammeikle · Member · Jul 13, 2024 at 1:22 am

If i hit the ‘write’ button, I get a blank screen at

    https://williammeikleblog.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.php

with the error: You attempted to edit an item that doesn’t exist. Perhaps it was deleted?

https://wordpress.com/sites page is the one that just sits and says ‘loading’

    Issue still persists this morning.

WordPress has stopped accepting older versions of Chrome. I tried a newer version on a public computer and it worked.

That was my guess. But the fact that it happened suddenly yesterday and nobody could tell me why doesn’t inspire much confidence in WordPress support.

It might have more to do with Chrome that with WordPress. They want you to spend more money on them.
