Export Malfunction

Hi, I’m not sure why I’m having so many issues with WordPress of late. I’ve tried to export my data several times and the resulting email has nothing attached to it. Please advise so that I can download to my computer for safe keeping as soon as possible please. Thanks.

Hi there, I’m not quite sure I understand. In the email you receive from WordPress.com following export, there’s a link to download the export file. It’s not attached to that email.
Regardless, when you export at https://wordpress.com/export/justavoice4him.wordpress.com a link to download the export file will appear on that page once the export has completed, in addition to the email sent.
Give that a try and let us know how that goes.

Hi there, thanks for answering. I didn’t realize ‘downloading my data’ would not actually give me a copy of my posts, just gibberish to use to import elsewhere, I guess? LOL. Sorry, not terribly tech-savvy so will have to find help locally to get a digital mirror copy of my personal content/poetry. Hard lesson learned!
Thanks again.

Hello again, that XML file you download is what you’d import to another site which will automatically generate your posts and pages when imported.
If you are interested in having copies of your posts as they appear on the visitor side of your site, you can use a service like BlogBooker that takes that export file and creates a PDF for you (NAYY) or by copying the posts/pages from the visitor side and then pasting them into a document.
Again, hope that helps.

Hi Jennifer, thanks so much. I had already started the tedious task of copy/paste for intellectual property, i.e., personal poetry. Love the idea of the automated PDF converter though. Great suggestion! Thanks again. Have a blessed one. : )
