Expired Domain (thecuriouscreative.com) need to renew but there’s no way to do that.

  • Hello!

The domain I bought from WordPress years ago expired in March and now I don’t have access to my main email or site now that my website is offline. I let it lapsed because I’ve been going through financial hardship and was trying to figure out how to transfer the domain and my Gmail account to Squarespace and yet I haven’t solved my issue yet. It’s important that I get this resolved quickly because I’m in the middle of a job search and now have no access to Gmail.

I haven’t used my WordPress account in years-only to renew my domain name every year. But all my past billing history that is associated with that domain (and upgrade) is empty. My account is very bare bones and I have no way to access anything I bought in the past nor an account history to follow.

Can you give me some tips or advice on how to retrieve my domain so I can better streamline my website management?

    Thank you in advance,

    Tami

  • From what you tell, I would say you are logged in to another account. Are you sure you logged in to the correct account?
Post the URL of your lapsed domain and add ‘modlook’ to the tags to get help from Start.

  • Hi there,

Yes, post under the correct WordPress.com account and we’ll begin the process of retrieving thecuriouscreative.com because I checked and is now in a redemption period. The charge is a $80 late renewal fee in addition to the $18 we charge to renew the domain.

Please visit the support page link for further instructions:

Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

  • I am posting from the right account (@hamasara) concerning my expired domain at thecuriouscreative.com. My billing history shows the record of my past purchases, just not the option to renew as outlined in the support documentation. There’s no button or anything that allows me to renew. Just the ability to view my receipts or email them. And without access to my email, it’s hard to recover or adjust anything.

  • @hamasara

without access to my email, it’s hard to recover or adjust anything.

We can only send the payment link to pay for the domains’ recovery to the email address on file for your hamasara account.

If you’re unable to use that email at the moment, please update that to an email address you can access from the account settings page:

    https://wordpress.com/me/account/

Let us know here once you’ve made that change, and we can send you a payment link.

Please only reply in this thread, and don’t open any more new support requests about this.

  • Thank you for being responsive. Sorry for posting duplicates. I’m not used to communicating in forums and this process isn’t the easiest due to my limitations via email.

I created a new email and updated my account accordingly.

Looking forward to getting this settled.

  • Thank you for updating the email. I’ve sent you a link to pay for the domain’s recovery and renewal. As soon as we receive your payment, we can email our domain provider to restore the domain.

From there it can take up to 48 hours, but if you’re lucky, the domain should be active within a few hours.

  • Thank you so much! Learned my lesson! I appreciate you guys with all your help to resolve this under 24 hours. I’m very thankful. Be blessed!

  • Okay, I’ve emailed our domain provider. We’ll let you know as soon as the domain is restored. Hopefully it won’t be too long :)

  • I’ll be on the lookout. Thanks again! Have a wonderful week!

  • Someone has already followed up with you via email, but just wanted to update here as well that your domain has been restored and is now active in your account again.

Please let me know if I can help with anything else.
