Error connecting to database outside of network.

    We have a wordpress hosted on IIS and using a different mysql server.

    when we are on our network we navigate to for example example.onpremwordpress.com the site loads fine.

    If you use this same url out of the office we get Error establishing a database connection.

    Other than the fact that we are no off site I would of thought that as the iis and database server hasn’t changed and are both still physically on the same network it should still be able to connect to the database and it isn’t the client who is connecting directly to the database it is the web server, and would of thought i needed to the MySQL port to the MySQL server. This has really stumped me.

    Any help would be appreciated?
