erasing categories

I’m trying to wipe out my blog so I can start again completely but I can’t work out how to delete the categories that you get for posts. I want to make new ones so I only have ones necessary but I don’t understand how to do it? I’ve read the instructions but when I go onto Posts the only categories option I see is when I make a new post, and then the only thing I can do is select some or make new ones.

You must be logged in under the exact same username account that registered a blog to access it.

1. To edit or delete a category assigned to a post (whether it’s a draft or has already been published), go to Dashboard → Posts → All Posts in your dashboard, hover over the title and click the Edit link. To delete the post click the Trash link.

2. To edit/delete categories in your dashboard go to Dashboard → Posts → Categories
