Empty categories … can I make them visible???
-
I was wondering if there was any possible way to make empty categories visible????
I am working on a wedding blog and would like all my categories to show even if at the moment I do not have any posts in those catergories…Can anyone help me out??? this is my blog: glamourthis.wordpress.com
Thanx a bunch!

No, unfortunately not. The only way to make them visible is to add something to them, be it a post or a blogroll type link.

the only thing to do is make a text widget that lists them, but why do you want empty categories to show? I know i find it annoying to click on a link only to be told, “sorry! Nothing here yet.”

Its because I will be posting info in there eventually….
but at the moment since I am starting my blog I dont have enough posts to put in each catergory….
Since it is a wedding blog i want the basic categories: (example)Fashion Trends,
Invitations
DIY projects
Photo & Video
Themes
Cakes
… and the list goes on… -
snobkels: you could put up a test post where you check it with all the empty categories, which will then appear in your sidebar (assuming you’ve placed a categories widget). once the categories have real posts in them then you could delete the test post.

Well i think i might of figure something out.
I created posts with the categories i wanted…
until all of them showed up on my site. After I deleted each posts. The categories remained but the posts didnt.
Dont know if there gonna stay but for now it works! -
I would really think it’s not worth annoying your readers with empty categories. If you want them so YOU don’t forget you’ve got stuff to say on those topics, save a text file to your own computer. If readers looking for info click on empty categories more than once, I can completely understand them writing that blog off entirely. There’s a reason things work as they do at WP.com.
