embedding code

  • I need to give web.com my embedding code to connect my blog

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • I need to give web.com my embedding code to connect my blog

What is the code? Copy & paste it here, between code tags.

  • Thanks, that’s what I need and don’t know how to find it.

  • All WordPress.COM hosted blogs like http://mycolumbusdiary.wordpress.com/ are hosted right here on this multiuser blogging plaftform. They are not meant to be embedded into any other site so be clear on that because we do not provide the code for that at all.

What exactly is it that you want to accomplish please?

  • Please tell me a little more about how you are trying to connect your site to web.com. Do you want to move your site to be hosted there? Are you building a website there, but want to keep a blog hosted at WordPress.com? Once I have a better idea of what your ultimate goal is, I can help you get there.

  • Hi Liz the fair! Yes, I need advice. You look friendly and kind, which I need! First, I believe I have made a mistake. I’m not very computer literate- can hardly manage to post a picture on Facebook. I did manage to format andpublish 2 ebooks. The books are on Kindle, etc. I would like to promote them. I want to write a blog about my city, perhaps eventually have local advertisers and promote my ebooks too. Web.com sold me a web site, recommended Word Press – In theory I want blog on word press and then have it on my web.com site. They said I would need to provide them an embedding code. I think maybe I want to cancel web.com, which is $114 a month. I did see a blog starter site that seems to set most things up for you. Are you an experienced blogger? Your advice would be much appreciated!

  • Web.com sold me a web site, recommended Word Press –

Web.com is a web host, so when they recommend WordPress they mean a site built on WordPress software hosted by them. Sites like that are sometimes referred to as “WordPress.org” sites. Your existing site, http://mycolumbusdiary.wordpress.com/ is hosted at WordPress.com. It also runs on WordPress, but we host it for free and take care of security and stuff like that. You have less flexibility in terms of themes and plugins on WordPress.com but it’s generally easier to use. Here’s a rundown of the differences.

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

They said I would need to provide them an embedding code. I think maybe I want to cancel web.com, which is $114 a month.

If you are just starting out and aren’t exactly sure what you want to do with the site, $114 a month seems pretty steep.

You can add a custom domain to your existing, free, WordPress.com site for $26 per year. If you want more features we have a premium plan for $99 per year. You can read more about that here.

I did see a blog starter site that seems to set most things up for you

Where did you see that? Do you have a link?

  • The site is The Blog Starter.com. Yes, I just told web.com to get stuffed. So now I’m figuring this out from scratch again. Will check out the wordpress plan. The Blog Starter recommends WordPress too.

  • If you decide to stick with WordPress.com, this will help as well

Also, if you go with http://www.theblogstarter.com/, you will also end up with a WordPress site hosted somewhere other than WordPress.com. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. I just want to make sure you understand the difference between the two types of WordPress.

  • Thank you. So I’m doing the 14 day trial with you guys. Janine B
