@kriskarkoski Thank you for the response … and adding the word count. I do use it.
@holtzclawc I have not seen that behavior with closing the preview returning to an old draft. May I ask what browser and operating system you’re using (supportdetails.com) and if you have any extensions installed so I can take a closer look? Thanks!
Browser: firefox 42.0/ Operating system: OS X Yosemite v. 10.10.5
Clarification/additional comments: I write, I click on preview. It’s all fine. THEN, if I click on edit at the very, very bottom (which is a pain, because before, I could just scroll up a wee bit and get the edit icon), the draft screen appears on top of the preview. Edit some more, go to preview and now I’ve got TWO preview screens stacked on top of one another, with about a quarter inch separating the two. It continues until the newest preview screen is down at the bottom of my computer screen (hope this making sense) and it’s impossible to edit. Whenever I start closing the preview screens, whichever is the last to get closed, that’s the draft page that show up, even if it’s a way earlier draft.
Thank you! I suspect it’s a nothing more than a bothersome glitch.

There’s a BIG, BIG problem with working in VISUAL mode. When I edit a post in VISUAL mode, all my spacing formatting (e.g., <br class=”spacer_” />) is either lost or mangled. So once I’ve formatted a post, I am forced to edit it only in HTML mode. And since you took away all the editing tools (and the ADD MEDIA button) in HTML mode, it really screws things up. My only option is to call up all my posts and click on the one I want to edit, which then brings up the classic editor. Please, please, please bring back editing features in HTML mode!

I’m on Windows 8.1, using Firefox v.42
I hope these issues can be resolved… and that it will work faster soon!

Is it possible you can suggest a different theme that will make photo loading easier. It took 45 minutes today what use to take only about 15 minutes until the change occurred just to load each photo 1 by one to get to work right for me. Here is a link to today’s writing. https://norcalnews.wordpress.com/2015/11/20/5000-lbs-turkey-drive-great-cody-escape-designer-challenge-and-more-today-in-the-news/

I only have one problem. I can’t find the short link. I found the permalink, but I don’t see the short link until after publishing the post. I need it before that.

Not sure if it has been addressed or not but many people including myself are experiencing issues with the pages link at the top of our pages. Where they used to be skinny and horizontal, they are now listed all vertical with a large colored background. Not appealing. Please help so that we can get our sites working properly!! http://Www.Hopephotographyla.Com

Before:
Drag and drop photos onto blog entry and I was automatically taken to the media center where I titled each photo, pressed insert and done. Click the photo and the full size version appeared. Now:
Drag and drop photos and then must press Media button. Once there must now click on photo to title it. Once titled, press Insert. Must now do this ONE AT A TIME. Pressing cancel brings me back to the top of the screen. And once inserted, *cannot click the photo to enlarge*.What took 5 minutes now is unfinished after 60 minutes of poking around and “discovering” what are surely labeled “enhancements”.
An enormous waste of time. Thoughtless release process, reminds me of Microsoft. When updating, provide a revert button.

You know not everyone likes the new editor and I’m one of those. It would be nice if you gave us (your customers) the option of staying with the other editor or having this new editor that you think is so great shoved down our throats.
You took away some valuable tools (i.e. spell / grammar check) changed the width and generally made me spend a lot more time looking for things then it took to write a post.
Again what’s wrong with giving us a choice?
Regards,
Dave Updegraff -
I second Dave’s request to give us a choice.
Several times, I’ve proposed giving the old and new interfaces their own platform — something like WordPress.com and WordPress.mobile — and let your users decide for themselves. No one has responded to this suggestion.
I’d really like to know if the higher-ups at WordPress would consider this.

It’s called “Customer Service!” I did find a work around to use the original editor. But damn, I should not have to go to all that trouble. It should be a simple choose your editor and move on.

Please add the Dashboard back when we log in to our administration page. The new theme does not allow for editing content of the widgets, just the widget itself. In order to do that I needed the dashboard but was not able to find the dashboard until I read this forum and found out I have to manually add in the /wp-admin to my url. This is not intuitive at all. Thanks.

Every time there is an update to the editor, I have to refresh my html coding abilities in order to place images where I want and to have them open in a new tab. This increases the time spent on each post. Please stop mucking around with the photo editor.

Hi,
I have just composed my latest post in the new editor, and it was a nightmare. Using scrawl theme and composing on iPod touch with Safari.
One improvement seems to be the speed of the uploads to the editor, and I do like the handy mosaic tool – thanks for that.
Everything else to do with photos though appears to have glitches. Every time I put a photo in, it went in full size. I like to embed, so I would click the alignment then try and resize the photo. However, clicking the ‘-‘ to resize removed the alignment selection, so had to learn the specific order in which to do things.
Also, and this was an infuriating glitch, I’d added in and captioned a number of photos before realising I had to resize them all. Going back through, the resize not only removed alignment, I also replaced the caption with the caption I put in for my first photo. It did this repeatedly and I could not figure out a solution without removing or retyping all captions.
Also, when previewing it seems you get to a kind of ‘in screen’ preview and then you have to click the expand arrow again to open it in a new window and actually be able to view it. This seems very unnecessary to me.
The category selection menu also crashed three or four times before I could categorise the post.
I think I’ll get used to it, and I’m sure the stuff with the photos is mostly glitches. It was just a nightmare process that took me three separate sessions (to allow the anger to subside) and two days.
I love blogging and WordPress – please tweak away to solve the glitches!
Oh – and where’s the word count gone??????????
Yours,
Chris, frustrated in Buenos Aires.

Another vote here for bringing back the HTML toolbar. I preferred editing in HTML in the old editor, and things that were easy are now difficult. In the new HTML editor I can do everything I used to do if I take the time to do it all manually, but I’d rather not have to.
Also I’ve had trouble insering links using the visual editor. If the link is the last thing in the post, new text I type shows up as part of the link – ie., same color, underlined, etc. – effectively extending the text part of the link way beyond anything I wanted. It’s almost as if there’s a “link mode” in the visual editor that sees all text as part of a link. I have to use the HTML editor to enter links that behave themselves., ie., confine themselves to just the link and don’t try to overtake the whole post.

Does anyone use images from a non wordpress library, like photobucket, the same as me?
I can’t seem to find a way to link to a photo without having to upload it to my gallery. Unless the data cap has been lifted, I prefer using photobucket since I pay for it and have thousands of images on there.

The light blue type is difficult on the eyes (especially old eyes) and much, much harder to read and edit. At least give us a choice.
The same with the width of the draft page. The narrow space is silly. I write on my laptop and half the width of the screen is now dedicated to aqua background. Meanwhile, I’m struggling to get a sense of perspective without having to flip back and forth with the preview screen, where at least I can select the view…
Meanwhile, I’m not seeing any responses lately from the Happiness Engineers…have they just given up?

The powers that be at WP don’t give a rat’s ass about the users. They just do whatever they want and you just have to accept it. They don’t care. They just continue to give empty promises thinking that we will be satisfied forever and go away.
They know they are the only game in town except Google’s blogger which isn’t that great and for those who want a comments sections and other such things on their site, it’s a non-starter.
My suggestion (other than hoping WP goes away) is to use the admin dashboard and it’s editor (which is far and away better than the new one starting just with the fact that it works). I’m using that…..until they decide to take that away as well. It’s funny that WP claims to want to protect the internet and supports freedom, but they sure work hard at preventing anyone from having a blog or site by making everything non-functional and not doing anything about all the problems except creating more. -
Just wanted to update my complaint.
The issue that I had with parent menu tabs not parenting correctly has been resolved, and my site is back to normal. So there’s that. They actually HAVE been working on some of the issues that have been addressed.
As for the editor…I just wrote a post, and honestly I didn’t feel hindered. I do like how the photos arranged, and it worked well for me. Maybe I’m not using it the same way everybody else is, or maybe I haven’t done anything that is problematic (yet), but so far I don’t mind the new editor. And yes, I’m posting using my laptop, not a mobile device (which I don’t ever see doing, really).
I don’t want to trivialize the complaints, I just wanted to say something positive in this sea of negativity. I’m all for the idea of having the choice on which editor to use, btw.

Hi,
I have pointed out the problem that the new editor lacks special modules for theme specific properties several times from the early phases of development.See this page:
My theme, Outspoken, has the “Display Post In” module in the WP Admin editor to select which post appears in which section of the home page. Considering that I need to update the home page’s 2 sliders frequently, its lack in the new editor makes the whole experience very time consuming and tiring for me. I used to pick some posts on the blog and click “Edit” from their page and place them on the slider I want from the module; but as the “Edit” link directs me to the new editor and the new editor doesn’t have the module I use, I need to go all the way to WP Admin, search the posts I want from the “All Posts” page, click “Edit” for each and update them. I used to this for 15 posts each day with the old editor, but now, I rarely update the sliders.
I guess some other themes too don’t have their specific features’ modules on the new editor.
The new editor has been slowing me down since its release and this doesn’t seem to change.
Although I have been told that the team was aware of the issue, I don’t see an effort to replace them in the new editor. It has been 7 months since I last brought this to your attention, and I think it must have been enough for someone to work on them. If it is not enough, then why are you making us use this -no more than useless- editor in its premature phase? Please, don’t put aesthetics before functionality or mobile before PC.
Once again, I hope my feedback will be considered this time.
