domain registration on wp

  Hello,

  I want to register a domain AND map it to a blog.

  I read everything about it, like here:
  http://support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/domain-management/
  http://support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/
  and lots of other pages.

  But the registration page at http://<myblog&gt;.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=domains does not behave at all as described! When I enter a domain that does not exist yet (like cxkjladsljkew.de) then it brings me to a page with broken German, totally not understandable. There is no option to register the domain, no option to add credits, just two links: “contact support” and “Versuchen Sie es noch einmal” (try again).

  But those links above say that I should just do what I did, even when I do not own the domain yet. It really is a free domain, or do you think that cxkjladsljkew.de is registered by anyone?

  So how can I do what they write at

  and
  http://support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/
  ?

  I now believe that I can only register .com-Domains, not .de! If that is right, all the instructions should be updated, and there should be a clear message when someone tries to register a different domain.
