  I want to change my domain name from “example.wordpress.com” to “example.com”. Can I do this without paying a fee or upgrading?

  You can map a domain that you already own to a WordPress.com blog for 9.97 credits ($9.97) per year. Note that you must update the name servers for your domain before you will be able to purchase the domain mapping upgrade from WordPress.com (see steps below). Note that you cannot map the “www” subdomain because WordPress.com removes the “www” from all URLs.

  You can also purchase a domain name through wordpress.com but in another thread you state that you have prochased the domain name already from hostgator.
