Hello! If I purchase a plan, can I use my own domain name (purchased from go daddy) without it costing more?
The blog I need help with is inspiringacreativelife.wordpress.com.
Mapping an existing domain is included in both the Premium and Business upgrade plans. http://support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/
There is no monthly payment plan here. All upgrades must be paid for in full at the time of purchase and we are billed annually.
WordPress.com provides free blogs and hosts them free of charge. There are no bandwidth charges. All WordPress.com blogs come with 3000 megabytes (~3 GBs) of space for storing uploaded files and images. Free features are listed here https://en.wordpress.com/features/
See here for details of all 3 plans http://store.wordpress.com/bundles/ offered by WordPress.com.
Premium bundle details http://store.wordpress.com/plans/premium/
$8.25 per month, billed yearly
Business bundle details http://store.wordpress.com/plans/business/
$24.92 per month, billed yearly
The policy and prices have changed. All new accounts must purchase the Premium bundle of upgrades. Only renewal of an existing domain mapping upgrade is now available at the lower price. See: http://support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/
Note that each upgrade bundle applies to a single blog only and is for a single year only when it is due to be renewed.
We all pay in full for every upgrade at the time of purchase. Make sure you read the comparison very closely do you know exactly what the restrictions and limitations on WordPress.COM blogging are: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
Read Important Notes Before Upgrading http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/#important-notes-before-upgrading
There are no premium themes included in the premium upgrade bundle. http://store.wordpress.com/plans/premium/ And every premium theme is individually priced.

In order to use a domain you purchased elsewhere with your WordPress.com site, you’ll need to purchase a mapping upgrade subscription for your domain:
It’s $13 and is used to map your domain hosted elsewhere to your WordPress.com site.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Welcome back, @TT. The days of slow responses are now over for me, lol. =)
You guys are awesome! Are there any benefits to buying a plan vs just mapping my domain?
I ask because the plans already come with a custom domain, which I already own.
Yo! Kids camp done and it was great. I was the only senior who could do cartwheeels, African drumming and be a lead singer. The pop music Concert was great too and then came singing camp. Now I’m preparing to modeling a fashion show. I won’t actually be back until after Labor Day. I just sneaked in to answer a few questions before I have to catch the ferry to modeling camp. Retirement rocks!
P.S. I may be taking up the Ukelele.
I’m looking at it now. I did as darnell had mentioned.
@debbuckingham The whole cost of domain/mapping charges has gotten a bit confusing, but the bottom line is that you can’t do either/both without a plan, which now comes in three flavors : Personal, Premium and Business. https://wordpress.com/plans/ All the benefits are listed there and scroll down a little on that page to see more about those plans.
@tt- My employer won’t let me go! Glad to hear you are enjoying retirement. (Someday!) :)
Doh! Needed to refresh! :)
You actually may be able to just purchase the mapping subscription since you registered a looooong time ago. But, @timethief is right, new accounts in particular only can purchase domains with plans only. As @jent says, they are waaaaay too confusing. We’re working on it, though ;)
Check your account, you should be able to just purchase mapping.
Let me know if you have any trouble.
Yea, I’ve had my blog for a looooong time. :-) So, if I (can) purchase just the mapping does it remove the add along the bottom? Or…should/do I purchase a plan? I just dont want to overspend just for the sake of overspending. If I have to, I have no problem purchasing a plan. :-)
I love you guys…

You will need at least the personal plan in order to remove ads.
That’s what I was looking for. Thank you for your time, guys!
And the Personal plan, like all the plans, also rocks with direct support by email or live chat with Staff. Can’t beat that!
Assuming I did the mapping all correctly, I’m waiting for it to go live.
