displaying Top Rated Posts widget and Tagline in Sketch theme

  • I can’t display the top rated posts widget in the sidebar in Sketch theme. My blog is invisiblehorse.wordpress.com. I’ve managed to get other widgets to display OK.

Also, is a tagline supposed to be visible under the title in Sketch? I see that not all blogs have a tagline displayed but I’d like to have it – either under the title or in the sidebar? At the moment I’ve added it as an extra Text widget at the top of the sidebar.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • I don’t believe the tagline is supposed to be visible in Sketch. Even though you can add it when you customize the theme, the theme css adds a display:none style that suppresses it. If you are able to add custom css (you need a Premium Plan to do this), you can change that and make it display.

The Top Rated sidebar not displaying is interesting. I was able to add it without any problem to my own site using Sketch, even though none of my posts have any likes or views – it just displays “There are no posts to display.” By any chance, have you tried deleting all your widgets, then re-adding Top Rated posts first, just to see if it will appear?

  • That’s a good idea – I’ll try it, or at least try deleting just the top posts widget first, and then adding it again. I’d worked out you can’t havethe tagline displayed. I’ve added a text widget to the top of the sidebar and used that for a tagline. Works ok on computer screen view, though of course it’s not at the top of posts on phone or tablet views – but I can live with that. Thanks for your suggestions and information.
