Disconnect a jetpack site through wordpres.com
-
Hi, I have a site I no longer have access to connected to my wordpress.com account, and I would like to disconnect it, however I can’t find the option to do so in the new interface.
-
Hi,
Please read this page to see the instructions to disconnect Jetpack:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/disconnect-jetpack-sites/Note: This does not work for Jetpack sites that are currently live. If you want to disconnect active Jetpack sites, you will need to log into your self-hosted site’s Dashboard and disconnect Jetpack directly from there.
Hope that helps!

Hi honeysilvas,
That seems to be for an outdated version of the interface, the current interface lacks those options which are moved to the left menu, and where I am now missing the “Disconnect Jetpack” option.
-
Not to worry as Staff can remove it. I tagged this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond. What is the URL you want Staff to remove please?
-
Thank you timethief, although it is weird that I can’t do it myself? Anyways, the url is http://www.ablelounge.com.
-
There’s an issue right now that will be addressed and cleared up so users can do this themselves in the future. Thanks for posting the URL.

Ok, I see the new interface now.
Go to https://wordpress.com/sites.
Find the site you want to remove then click the Gear icon (on the upper right side of the box) then click “Select this site” on the drop-down menu.On the left menu, click Settings. It will come up with a screen like this:
Jetpack Monitor
Actively Monitoring Turn Jetpack Monitor on or off. If inactive, it will be disabled for all users. -
I see what the problem is, I checked there before and got the following message: “Drat! It looks like you are running an old version of Jetpack on ABLE Lounge, please (upgrade) in order to access the latest features!”
I can’t turn off the jetpack without updating it first? A bit weird as I no longer have access to the site :)

Is the site currently live? I think this same rule still applies:
Note: This does not work for Jetpack sites that are currently live. If you want to disconnect active Jetpack sites, you will need to log into your self-hosted site’s Dashboard and disconnect Jetpack directly from there.

The site is live indeeed, thank you for mentioning that! Well, I’ll hope staff can help me out then.
-
If your site is currently live, you need to go to http://www.ablelounge.com/wp-admin and disconnect Jetpack from there.
-
-
You would need to contact the administrator of that site and have them help you disconnect Jetpack for you.
-
.. So there is no way to disconnect jetpack from my account on my own? Woah. Feels like there’s a leech stuck on me now.
-
I think the reason why it’s setup this way is so that if the site was dependent on some Jetpack features, people couldn’t just disconnect the site and disable the features by doing so. A good example is the contact form. If somebody was just able to disconnect Jetpack from outside the site, the contact form would stop working.
The administrator of the site needs to be notified of any disconnection of Jetpack account so they can setup their own Jetpack account if necessary. That way, there won’t be any disruption to the site.

Hi there,
Since the site at http://ablelounge.com/ isn’t using Jetpack anymore, I was able to safely remove it from your account. Please let me know if I can do anything more to help!
