Detailed Contact Form

  • I’m working on a community-oriented blog using the free version of wordpress and I want readers to be able to submit community events. Right now I have a simple (generic) contact form for people to use – they have to type in everything by hand. For example, I ask them to include the event name, date, location, times, cost, etc… so my question is – can I place some kind of detailed form (a table of some kind?) with Date, Location, Time, etc already in the form with blank spaces beside that for the readers to fill in with the appropriate info and then submit it the same way they would a generic contact form?
Hope I got that across ok…Thanks for any help.

  • Forms aren’t allowed here. There are some online form sources that offer this sort of thing and then you would link to it from your blog. I think there are even some that will host those forms for you for free.

  • I’ve seen the “form” sites like woofoo, emailmeform, et al., but not sure I like the third party thing and not really sure it’s necessary.

I don’t quite understand why, if WordPress allows me to use a contact form [contact-form] that allows my readers to to send me information, can’t I add additional lines (like the subject line that the tutorial demonstrates) such as Date of Event, or Contact Phone Number successively to create a “form” that my readers can use to notify me of a local event in that same contact-form?

Otherwise, could you suggest something that I could use to achieve what I want without going outside of WP?

    Thanks

  • You would have to ask them staff.

There ins’t anything her at wordpress.COM that you can use to collect information other than the contact form that we are provided with. Forms are not allowed due to soecurity concerns.

  • Thanks, I’ll do that.
