Hi Mark,
I’m happy to help you delete your site if that’s what you want, but I know you’ve done a lot of work on it already. Is there a problem that you are stuck on?
-
Hi Liz,
Well I’d rather not but what has happened is I’ve just created a WordPress.org blog in Bluehost which I want to give this domain to and when I try to use my domain supersoulfrieddisco.com it keeps taking me to my WordPress.com site.
-
Ugh just looking now how to change URL of the site in Bluehost all seems quite complicated. Yes probably just easier to delete.

This we can fix without deleting your site. In fact, since your domain is registered here. deleting your site would make using the domain elsewhere more difficult.
The first step it to change your primary domain for your WordPress.com site. You can do that here.
https://wordpress.com/my-domainsChoose supersoulfrieddisco.wordpress.com and then click “update primary domain”
Once that’s done, you’ll point your domain to the name servers at BlueHost. Here are the instructions for how to do that.
The name servers you need for Bluehost are included on that page, but if you get stuck, let me know and I can help walk you through it (or just do it if that’s your preference).
Let me know if you need anything else!

Hi Liz,
I followed the instructions, I changed the domain to wordpress one in my domains and I entered the bluehost name servers.
I logged into Bluehost and installed WordPress selected my supersoulfrieddisco.com domain then when I viewed credentials the info came up below…
URL: http://www.supersoulfrieddisco.com/
Admin URL: http://www.supersoulfrieddisco.com//wp-admin
Username: SSFD
Password:Which still takes me to my wordpress.com site

The domain needed to be pointed the BlueHost server from your WordPress.com account. I did that step for you, and now it’s working as expected. If it’s not working for you yet, please clear your browser’s cache, close your browser completely and reopen, or try in a different browser than the one you usually use. It’s common for your computer to “remember” the old information for a while after a DNS change and those steps will help encourage it to check for new info.

Hi Liz,
Ok clearing the cache didn’t automatically log me in to my wordpress.com site which is good.
When I install wordpress on Bluehost, view credentials, note the username and password, click on the url which takes me to the wordpress log in screen, which i then enter the username and password which then says invalid username or email !!! I’m copying and pasting the username and password from Bluehost ??

That’s a question for BlueHost support. We host your WordPress.com site, and and are your domain registrar, so can help you behind the scenes with questions about those two services, but logging into your new BlueHost site beyond what I can help you with.
If you contact Blue Host support at the link below, they can help
https://my.bluehost.com/hosting/help
They have a phone number and live chat options at the top of the page.
Good luck!

Hi Liz,
After some more thought can you please go ahead and delete the site
It’s still sometimes pointing to it when I click on a wordpress link. What I will do when deleted is maybe create another one with a completely different domain. But can you please delete this one thank you.

Hi Liz,
Can you also delete the site/account
https://wordpress.com/wp-admin/user/index.php
with the username: adminssfd
and password: [redacted by staff]Thanks

That’s because it takes a little while for DNS to catch up. The back and forth will stop after a day or so.
As long as your domain is registered with us, it has to be connected to a WordPress.com site, so it’s not possible to delete your site and keep using the domain.
The good news is you are in day 59 of the 60 day transfer lock that ICANN places on newly registered domains. That means that starting tomorrow, you would be able to transfer your domain to BlueHost. Then you can do what ever you like with your existing WordPress.com site, including deleting it. Here’s info on how to transfer your domain.

adminssfd–I can remove the jetpack connection to your self-hosted site if you would like. It’s not possible to delete WordPress.com accounts. There is more information on how to deactivate an account here.

Note: I’ve removed the password from your message below. Never give your passwords to anyone, and for sure never post them in a public forum. Please change the password for any site you have that uses that one. It’s no longer secure.
