Deleting or moving a site from a terminated account.

    Hello,

I’m in trouble: within our organisation we use several wordpress sites, all managed the same way by each of our personel as blogs.
As a wordpress-account was terminated by a leaving employee, this specific wordpress site has become unreachable to any action.
We would like to maintain the site or if not possible delete it and start over fresh.
As said, the wordpress account connected to the site is no longer in use nor is the mailadress which was used to set it up.
How do I go about, what are my possibilities?

    Thanks in advance!

When a WordPress.com account is closed, all sites owned by that site are deleted and the according domains are locked forever.

Hey Staartmees :-) Thanks for the input. That’s my problem: the account was closed but the site wasn’t deleted. Can someone weigh in on this, helping taking it a step further? Thanks!

    Hi there!

Can you share the link to the site you’re referring to?

    Thanks!

    Hey!
Thanks for the response. Yes, that’s:
    https://kaz2datelier.wordpress.com/
The account behind it is dead, the mailaccount to (merel.vandec…)
Ideally we can start clean with the same url, but I don’t know what the options are.

    Thanks for the link!

I’ve just checked and confirmed that the WordPress.com account that the site https://kaz2datelier.wordpress.com is on is still active. It wasn’t deleted, as doing so would have deleted the site as well.

It won’t be possible to reuse the site address. So your only option would be to submit the account recovery form at this link with all the details as outlined on the page below:

At some point, you may run into a situation in which you’ve lost access to your account. We want to ensure that you take the necessary steps to avoid getting locked out and set up your WordPress.com account to be recoverable. We are not able to help with account recovery issues in the forum. If you’re unable to submit the account recovery form, you can send our account recovery team an email at this address: passwordhelp@wordpress.com.

    Hope that helps!
