Copying Photos

  • Hi there

I have looked at the various suggestions made by wordpress about people wo may copy my photos I post on my blog.

Merely posting a copyright on my blog or putting a water mark on each photo is wholly inadequate protection against theft.

I am quite shocked at how limited this is with wordpress as it is a well known website all over the world. My albums on Flickr are all safe and cannot be copied.
How come people can just swoop down and ‘save as’ my images.
I value all my images and they have always been safe on Flickr until now.
They are professional images that I’ve taken after years of travelling.

I paid good money for this blogsite.

    Help please

    Andy

Wrong. Flicks from Flickr can be copied just as easily as from any other site.

    That’s just how computers work.

  • Hi there…….

Right: you can copy from anything that is unprotected on Flickr including all thumbnails. However, you can set up your sets so if someone tries to right-click and ‘save as’ it will say “This photo is copy right reserved”.

    Anything similar to that here?

    Help please?

    Cheers

  • Well, banning the easy “right-click” to “save as” is not so difficult to over-ride if one is even mildly determined to copy a picture.

As for wp.com, no, there is not any such impediment at all.

You could publish only very small thumbnails, or use watermarks.

  • Cheers for the feedback.

    Happy Christmas to you :)
