Choco stopped putting YouTube videos on my posts
-
Blog is http://peregrine5700.wordpress.com
Yesterday I switched to the Choco theme.I don’t know whether this is a Choco problem or a broader one, but here is the problem:
All of a sudden earlier this evening Choco stopped entering the URL for videos in my posts. I notice that in YouTube, the URL font size for the video is larger — much larger than it used to be.
I insert the URL in the usual way, as I always have, but tonight, after I go through the procedure, there is no URL on my post and there is no YouTube video.
Can someone figure this out?

I have Choco and mine is working OK. I have a few videos so looked at those posts & everything was OK. I made a new test post (that I did not actually post) and inserted the video thru the insert video process. The video is showing up. If I just paste the link, it also shows the actual video. If I hit “link” and then put the link, it shows the link.

I also checked this out in my test blog. I loaded Choco and I and no trouble posting a youtube.

Dear Kellywpa and TimeThief —
Thank you both for taking time to check. OK, so now I know that it isn’t a Choco problem (good news). I still have to figure out two things:(1) Why YouTube has some of the URLs in larger larger font size (I realize this is a YouTube question, not a WordPress problem). And just to clarify, at YouTube I am clicking the Share button and then copying the URL that shows up in the window below. I then click the video icon on the post and fill in the window that pops up.
(2) What I am doing wrong. I can’t figure this out.

OK. I just now went back to YouTube and clicked on a bunch of videos and then on their Share link. All of those Share links opened up to have LARGE FONT SIZE.
I therefore have concluded that it is not as I thought last night, an anomaly but just YouTube’s new style.
So if I eliminate YouTube large URL font size as a variable, then that leaves me with only one option which is purely theoretical: That my Choco template has a hangnail somewhere. I hope the theme creators have some hangnail clippers…..

Don’t hit the share button in YouTube. I have my village on YouTube so just used that one. I copied the links here but you can see the difference – I normally just use the link at the top of the page. That is the first one. The second one is the one from the share.

Don’t use the link from the share – that doesn’t work in WP apparently but the link at the top of the page will work.

Ha! I just now came here to say the exact same thing. :-) I went to YouTube and tried the big font again and it did not work. So I figured I’d just do it the old fashioned way and copy the address in the address field… AND IT WORKED. The video showed up in a post. (But hitting the Share link USED TO work!!!)
So ok. I am taking this to mean that from now on I must not click the Share link. I must copy what is in the Address Field. OK. :-)

I don’t use the share button either. I click the icon in the wordpress editor and then click “from URL” and copy and paste the youtube URL found in my upper browser bar into the URL field an click “Insert into post”. I just did two more and this works like a charm.
