change blog url

    I don’t want or have an alternate domain. I just want my name to not be a part of the url address. I’d like to change it to [somethingelse].wordpress.com

    Will this cause me to lose content or to break the links to my followers?

    Yes unless your purchase a site redirect upgrade. If you want to change the URL or blog address see here and read everything very carefully at least twice before doing anything > changing a blog address > http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/

    In a nutshell if you change a blog URL and fail to purchase a site redirect upgrade every bit of authority that belonged to the original URL and the page rank it has earned will be gone. Worse still, every original link to the content will be broken in the search engine page results and everywhere the the links appear on the internet. Everyone who clicks the original links will experience a 404 (page not found).
