Can't insert 'read more' tag on a post

  • Hi,

I am using the cubic theme and after I added ‘read more’ tag on one of my posts it just wont show up once updated. I am 100% sure I am doing it right before I’ve done it before on different sites. Is this option disabled on the post option of this theme?

    Thanks!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hello, the “read more” tag is to shorten your blog post when displayed on your home or archive pages not hide part of the content on a post page. Since cubic appears to only use the post title for links, that theme doesn’t appear to be compatible with the “read more” tag.

  • Ok, thanks! Can that be altered by hiding the text via css?

  • I believe it would take a combination of CSS (to hide part of the content) and Javascript (to reveal the content when a link was clicked). However, for security reasons, Javascript isn’t allowed on WordPress.com hosted blogs.

  • Hi there! As micawbr mentioned, the More tag won’t have an effect in Cubic, because the blog index isn’t designed to show any of the post content. There isn’t a way to change that display. The More tag is only designed to work on the blog index, not single posts, and there isn’t a way to change that because it’s a core feature built into WordPress.

If you’re trying to split single posts into more than one page, you could try the pagination tag instead:

Would this do the trick for you?
