Can't access the admin dashboard

My site is:

When I log in (…/wp-login/) using ‘admin’ and my password it simply redirects me back to the homepage…not to the Dashboard. Resetting pw doesn’t fix it.
I have tried updating WP to the latest version but that introduced site-breaking errors (calls to functions that don’t exist etc), so I reinstated what I have now. I’ve deleted my plug-ins folder, but same effect.
I haven’t accessed this in some time…and believe I may have another account that is an admin account, but when I try that I get a message: ‘This server could not verify that you are authorized to access the document requested.’
My hosting provider (easily.net) don’t have an interface for me to access the DB directly (I saw somewhere that you can create an admin user by directly updating the DB).
Any suggestions? Please help!
