I bought a domain name this evening but can’t access it. I can only access an old blog which I do not want anymore. I have tried to delete it but cannot. The process is too complex. I just want a refund 😔

The blog I need help with is

re: Refunds provides a 30-day refund on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers. The refund period for Domain Registrations and Renewals is 48 hours. It takes from 1 – 2 weeks or 7 – 10 business days for the refund to be received.

    re: Canceling upgrades
Every WordPress.COM blog has a sole owner. It is the person with the WordPress.COM username account who registered the blog under that username account and a single associated email address, and who is the original Admin of the blogs registered under that username account.

You have to be logged in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard, cancel any upgrades, claim a refund for any qualified upgrades, and disable auto-renew. Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades. You can also disable auto-renew there.

    1. What is the domain URL?
    2. What is the underlying URL?
    3. Exactly which username account registered the underlying blog and purchased the upgrade for it?
    4. When was the upgrade purchased?
    5. When did the refund request and upgrade cancellation, or the domain expiration take place?

I will type modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for a Staff follow-up. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? Also subscribe to this thread so you are notified when they respond and be patient while waiting. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it.

Thanks for your help, however, I have been to recent purchases and it is asking if I want to upgrade. There is no receipt. When I registered it said there would be an online chat help facility.

The problem is that I can’t seem to access my new domain, only my old one which is listed above!

I bought it about 90minutes ago, however, when I try to access it, it brings me to and I cannot edit.

Thanks for the URL. Please be be patient while waiting for Staff help. They work their way through threads is date stamp order serving the earliest first, as would be expected.

Now when I try to access the domain, I get this message:

Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please log in and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain.

    Thanks Timethief

You’re welcome and not to worry as Staff will assist you when they can.

    Hello –

Thanks for sharing these details. was bought under a different user account. This is why you aren’t able to access it from the account you are using to post here in the forums.

If you sign in to that other account you’ll be able to access the site and edit it.

In order to issue a refund we need you to cancel the payment dispute. Let me know once you’ve done that I can move forward with cancelling the domain and issuing the refund.

To help you locate the correct sign in credentials I have sent an email to the email address that you need to sign in to with.

    Dear WordPress

I didn’t know this would open a dispute with you, I simply wanted to contact you about the matter. I have resolved this issue with PayPal now but would still like a refund, please. I have forwarded the email from PayPal confirming this to the billing address at WordPress.
As for the other email address, I haven’t received anything.

Thanks for your help. I’m sorry this is so confusing.

    Kind regards,

    Jo Phillipson

    Hi Jo –

Please sign in from the other account, the one that I sent the email to, and post back here or reply directly to the email. I need to verify that you have access to the account where the refund is coming from. was not registered under the user account you are using here.

    Hi Liz,

I’ve signed in with the other account. Sorry for this fuss and thanks for your help.

    J x

No problem :) The refund has been processed. It may take up to ten days to reach you. Let me know if I can help with anything else!
