Can you add categories to the front page widget area?

    I add categories for the sub menu so that my posts can be organized into either Discovering Burgh or DMV Eats. However the widgets on the front page are not populated. I am not sure how to go about this. Please advise.

    Can you add categories to the front page widget area?

    Yes, you may for example include a Categories Widget in a front page widget area. However, the categories widget doesn’t include a featured image option.

    However the widgets on the front page are not populated.

    I’m not sure what you mean by that statement. Category menu items are only links to category pages. Such links are not automatically included in any widget areas.
