  I am in the application process of becoming an ebay affiliate, and they need me to have a website. To confirm my domain, I need to add a file to the webaddress like this whatididparenting.wordpress.com/filename.txt. Can I add a file like this in this manner?

  Oh, I finally found a thread that answered the above question. (tryingtraditional) The thing is I don’t really want to put ebay links on my site, it’s just that they need me to have one. I plan on sending links by email to individuals that are looking for something that I found on ebay… So I guess now it is between me and ebay.

  It’s not really possible to upload a file to your root directory.

  Your best bet would be to ask if they offer an alternative verification method. It sounds from your response that they might.

  Some services verify sites if you place an HTML comment or other text on your home page. If eBay offers this, you could try adding such text to a text widget.
