Bypass New Stats Page

Is there a way to bypass the new stats page?

I’ve provided feedback multiple times (and I’m not the only one looking at the forums. It’s horribly designed and not at all as convenient as the other page, especially on a smaller screen. If it’s anything like the WordPress iOS app, feedback will not be taken into account and it’ll remain as crappy as ever.

I’m tired of EVERY time I visit the page having to click back to the old stats page. I know you’ll force the new one on us eventually, but I’m not going to use it until you do and then I will have to make a decision on whether I want to keep my blog (and paid accounts) with WordPress.

The blog I need help with is geoffwhaley.com.

The main thread to post into on this and the related issues is at https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/massive-changes-to-the-wp-interface?replies=385

I’ll add it to that list – but it doesn’t answer the question and thus, this thread.

I have to agree, the new stats page is awful. I use a small laptop and a couple of tablet devices at home, and have to continually scroll up and down to find information which was once in clear view in one place before WordPress “improved” things.
However, as you said, there is probably no point in trying to change this fait accompli by giving feedback which will likely be ignored.

The last one was longer than necessary. This should work just as well: https://geoffwhaley.wordpress.com/wp-admin/.

From my December 15, 2014, 1:09 AM post on the “Massive changes to the WP interface” topic:

    The three WordPress stats pages:

    1. https://YourImmenselyPopularWebsiteName.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=stats — Don’t know when this was created. Can’t remember when it wasn’t there, and I’ve been using WordPress since 2008.

    2. https://wordpress.com/my-stats/ — “My Stats” was introduced about three years ago. Warnings that the older stats page would soon be eliminated came and went. And yet the old page stands still, working as well as ever.

    3. https://wordpress.com/stats — The only one of the three which requires eight pages of a forum thread to begin to describe its problems.

Most of those don’t work. Every one one of those can be over-ridden by the new stat page.

The only one that will work is /my-stats. Which is an absolute pain in the ass for someone that has been using WordPress for 5+ years and has muscle memory of getting to the stats page.

    Thanks for trying though.

The problem is they’re forcing the page onto us and it will eventually subsume all of those pages. What I’m having issues with is that most of those links cause the new stats page to appear and then you have to click to dismiss it to get back to the old page.

All of those log in URLs work for me. I don’t even have to change the blog address. That’s done automatically when I enter my username and pw.

For me, each of the stats links goes directly to correct page, but only of course when you’re already logged in. And of course you have to change “YourImmenselyPopularWebsiteName.wordpress.com” to your proper website name. Mine is https://songbook1.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=stats. Try that. I think it will switch automatically to your classic (the oldest one) stats page.

I tried using .com instead of wordpress.com for your log in URLs, but they redirected to the wordpress.com URLs.

What I’m having issues with is that most of those links cause the new stats page to appear and then you have to click to dismiss it to get back to the old page.

Sorry to hear that. Don’t know why I’m not encountering the same issues.

I never find myself hijacked to the Reader or the new stats page. Never go to either unintentionally. And the only reason I go to either is when trying to help others having issues with them.

Yeah – it’s very hit or miss. Occasionally it will stay with the original page, but more often than not it’s pushing me to the new one. I’ve found if I click the take me to the original it’ll keep me on that one for 10-15 visits and then it’ll revert to the new one.

On the plus side I get to provide feedback every few times saying why I prefer the old page to the new one :-D

The new stat page really sucks, as it is now I’ll ditch it completly – I have no use for it anymore. Just do an easy setting where you can chose!

If you go to the Classic Dashboard, and click the stats there on the right hand side, you get to the Classic stats. Whew.
