Byline in posts

I’m about to launch a blog for a scholarly journal and, because it will include posts authored by various people, I don’t want each post to have a byline, using my name (either full name or shorthand), at the top. Is there any way to either remove the byline entirely, allowing me to add an author’s name elsewhere, or customize the byline so that each post can have a different author listed if need-be? Thanks.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

My suggestion would be to find a theme that does not show the author in the post metadata. In some themes it can be removed via CSS and the Custom Design Upgrade, but not in all themes. Also there are three themes where you can choose to show the author or not.

See this post by Panos on which themes show an author or not, and where.
