Blog asking for user location?
Various iphone users have reported that my blog is asking them for their location (pop-up message saying ‘”http://informationrightsandwrongs.com” Would Like To Use Your Current Location”).
I can’t see any settings that a) would prompt this or b) can remove it. Can anyone advise?
The blog I need help with is informationrightsandwrongs.com.
Here’s the link for the iOs forum for the WordPress app so you can post there and make our WordPress developers aware of your iPhone issue. http://ios.forums.wordpress.org/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.org, click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to to those forums.
Many thanks – I’ll do that :)
A user reported seeing this on Android running the latest Chrome. I don’t think this is an iOS app issue, but rather an issue with the mobile version of wordpress.com.
(By “user” I mean visitor to my blog, hypatia.ca)
I’ll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.
Many thanks. I did ask the question on the iOS forum but it’s interesting to hear that the location message is also appearing for some android users.
Thanks for tagging for staff follow up :)
A twitter friend has kindly offered this advice:
WordPress inserts mobile-only getCurrentPosition from aka-cdn-nsDOTadtechusDOTcom/…DAC.js via adsDOTmopubDOTcom in WP ad script
Thanks for providing all of those details about the issue. I’m checking with our team now to get more information about that location pop-up. I’ll let you know what I find out!
This should be fixed now. If you continue to see a pop-up requesting your current location, please let me know. And thanks again for reporting this!
Thanks for tracking this down! WordPress is <3
You’re welcome! :)
