Hi i messed up and changed my blog address and lost all my search engine cred. Tried to change it back and it says my old domain is already taken. Is there a time frame for a deleted blog name to become available again?
The blog I need help with is riversurfco.wordpress.com.

Yes, however, the answer is 2 or more years after URL deletion.It’s too bad that you did not take the multiple warnings required to delete a site seriously because deletion is meant to be permanent and irreversible.
Deleting a site permanently removes it and you’ll never be able to re-use its WordPress.com address (such as yourgroovysite.wordpress.com). https://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/
Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and the only exceptions are made are for URLs that were deleted 2 or more years ago. http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/
You can register another .wordpress.com blog http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/
Then if you wish to you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade because it does not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is when you are domain mapping.
