Author Widget Problem

  • I’m having a problem with my author widget on the sidebar. I’ve added another contributor/author but there is an alignment problem. I can’t find any way to tweak the settings with the author widget. I’ve tried to shorten my nickname and that doesn’t do anything. I was thinking about adding a text widget on the sidebar for authors but I have no idea on the programming code. (how do you list names, photos and then link to their past articles). Any help please. View my sidebar to see what I’m talking about. Thanks, Mike

  • Your nick is definitely too long. You might choose a shorter (and more readable) display name under “Users” > “Your Profile” in the field “Nickname” and then select it as the name to be displayed publicly. Sidebar widgets usually take some time to update.

  • Thanks for the help. The sidebar widget did finally update. But, it still does not look good on my sidebar. Shortening my nickname didn’t really work. The standard author widget with this theme is not very good. Does anyone have another suggestion. PLEASE. Thanks, Mike http://www.homebuyersadvocate.wordpress.com

  • I suggest you make each author’s name a category, which they select for their posts. It has almost the same amount of functionality, and there’s nothing to stop you from using a text widget with their name as a link to their category pages. The only part of the author’s widget this doesn’t automatically replicate is the avatar, which you can put in there yourself, and the “bio slug” at the top of the listings.
