American Express Card Not Working

Hi,
I am trying to upgrade my blog. I have tried using my American Express card to do the same, however, this is not working. The card, which is working is not being accepted and I get a message saying, ‘The transaction was declined. Please try another card.’
Has anyone else faced this issue? Also, curious to know why I am unable to pay using PayPal. Just an FYI – I am trying this through a card registered in India.

The only accepted means of payment are in this support doc.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/payment/WordPress.com uses PayPal as the payment processor, and as such, can only accept payment from countries they support: https://www.paypal.com/worldwide/
If for whatever reason, they have chosen to block payment from your country, you will not be able to purchase an upgrade here unless you have a source of payment outside of your country. Note: You can buy a prepaid credit card from an approved country.
In addition to major credit cards Mastercard, VISA, American Express, Discover, and PayPal https://www.paypal.com/worldwide/ WordPress.com can accept echecks and some debit cards.
The debit card must have a VISA or Mastercard symbol on it, and should work just like a credit card when selecting the VISA or Mastercard option on the payment form, even though it’s a debit card.

Sometimes your bank may block the transaction, even if your debit card works for other purchases. Please contact your bank to confirm that they are not blocking transactions from WordPress.com.
Although WordPress.com accepts payments directly through PayPal accounts. If you don’t see any PayPal option this might be due to some country-specific restrictions imposed by PayPal.
